Los Angeles, I'm yours.

As many people know, I'm an obesessive playlist maker. Prior to that, I was an obsessive CD burner. Prior to that an obsessive mix-tape maker. Prior to that I suppose I just play songs in orders I liked. What did we do back then? I don't know.

My favorite thing is making playlists for travel. My computer/iPod as well as my old CD cases are jammed with mixes titled things like "Mountains", "California '00", "London", "Paris", loads of "NYC" ones, etc. Well, that and girls' names, of course. They've all got one. Several if they're lucky.

But I think I've made a winner of a playlist for these last couple of trips to LA and despite it being like 136 songs long, I thought I'd give everyone a topline/greatest hits version of it. 'Cause it's that good.

1. "LA Woman" The Doors
2. "We are the Sleepyheads" Belle and Sebastian
3. "April 26, 1992" Sublime
4. "California One/Youth and Beauty Brigade" The Decemberists
5. "Californication" Red Hot Chili Peppers
6. "Ode to LA" The Raveonettes
7. "Santa Monica" Everclear
8. "Surf Wax America" Weezer
9. "Rifles" Black Rebel Motorcycle Club
10. "California Stars" Billy Bragg and Wilco
11. "Badfish" Sublime
12. "California Dreaming" The Mamas and Papas
13. "Under the Milky Way" The Church
14. "Los Angeles, I'm yours" The Decemberists
15. "Riders on the Storm" The Doors

"Rain king", "A Murder of One", "All my Friends", and "Mrs. Potter's Lullaby" are all on the long version of the playlist.

"Mrs. Potter's Lullaby" is pretty much my favorite 'Crows song. If dreams are like movies then memories are films about ghosts.

Oh and "Daylight Fading" is on there, too. Always a winner. No "Long December" though. It's a little somber and out of season.
