Girl Talk

I just bought this album a couple of weeks ago when Rolling Stone gave it 4 stars, but man alive. 'Tis good. The dude manages to mash together anything and everything and the kitchen sink and somehow make it work. Half the fun is picking out all the samples. If you exercise at all or like to party, I highly recommend it. Check it out:

Roy Orbison into Dee Lite into Salt n Pepa into Nirvana into the Gap Band into Earth Wind and Fire into the Beach Boys? Get out of town!

Give this one 'til about the one-minute mark when you'll be all like "is that Kelly Clarkson mashed with Nine Inch Nails?" True dat.

300 different samples across 53 minutes.

Best of all, it's free for the taking right here:

just today, i said to myself, "i wonder if howard has any new music suggestions?" angie reminded me of bon iver the other night--i already had it but forgot. anyway, i highly recommend it. also, okkervil river, elvis perkins, and jay reatard. these are probably old news to you.

p.s. would you like to donate .25 or more to buy john mccain a fleet of poise pads?

good call on girl talk, by the way--i'm only on track 2 and i have a feeling this is exactly what i need for my entire weekend soundtrack.

anytime you can combine sinead o'connor with quiet riot, you automatically equal success.

It's good, right? I'll post something today about other stuff I've been remiss in not having mentioned. There's some good stuff out there.

Thanks for a delightful discovery. In the second posting (at 40 secs.)we loved the clip of the famous organ riff from "96 Tears," sounds of our era. This is fun for all ages!
