Throwback Thursday

Traditionally, the music year of each decade happens near the middle of the decade. But I'll be damned if 2010 ain't making a go of it. Good lord, the tunes just keep coming—the new Yeasayer, Broken Bells, Gorillaz.

And while this whole throwback thing's been kickin' out the jams for a few years now, it's paying some early returns this year. These two have been gettin a lot of spins lately. Or clicks or plays or whatever we do now. You know what I'm sayin'.

The Morning Benders
Berkley upstarts, The Morning Benders. I've been waiting for this album for a while. They make fantastic Sunday afternoon music. For when the windows are open. And the weather's like it is right now.

This is a live take on "Excuses." Give it about 1:15 to get going.

Codeine Velvet Club
The Fratelli's front man takes on a side project that sounds like the Raveonettes covering She & Him songs. This is "Hollywood."
